Intro

Hey guys, Ming here again with my fourth character! This is Master Shifu from Kungfu Panda, an uptight, strict and no-nonsense teacher. In this AU he's a Master Dueller, one of the best in China, and will be teaching Duelling to 4th years and above! 3rd years may be accepted but must apply for special permission. Why? Because Shifu's classes are designed to push your characters to their absolute limits, physically and mentally. They're definitely not meant for the younger students!

Shifu is also no stranger to corporal punishment, so check out this permissions post here if you're planning to have your character in his class or interact with him. Shifu's canon point is 18 years after the Tai Lung incident, so unfortunately for the students he's still the heartless and fierce man he was before he trained Po.

Duelling will cover how ethics, rules, application of spells learned in other classes and martial magic. It seems like a lot, but Shifu is one of the best duellers in the world so if your character wants to grow up to be a dueller, this is the man you're looking for.

I'll put up a class post as soon as possible, but feel free to plot CR here if you'd like it with this grouchy not-a-cute-red-panda old man.

I want everyone to have some CR with him; Rapunzel would be very curious about him, Merida would have mixed feelings, Baljeet would be scared, Ted... Okay, Ted doesn't apply.

And then there's Melvin, who definitely takes and SUCKS AT duelling. And is a troublemaker, at that!

This should be fun.

I'm afraid he'll be rather gruff to Rapunzel for all her friendliness, though at least she's polite so he might just be neutral with her. Merida...he'd def appreciate her aim, that's for sure! He might view her as a promising student if she is willing to stomach his overbearing nature. Baljeet...Shifu won't be impressed, but as long as the guy does his homework and comes to class and respects him, Shifu's cool with that. He may try to force Baljeet to man up though, so we'll see how that goes?

Melvin...ah ha ha...umm, wow. This would be really negative CR. If Melvin gives him 'tude during class, things are going to go south really, really fast. ;;

In short, yes, it shall be glorious.

Oh, okay, I forgot to mention that Merida and Melvin are the only ones in his class... But the rest would still know him as a teacher around school, I'm sure. I might sign Baljeet up down the road, depending on how things develop.

Shifu is literally my favourite KFP character you have no idea how excited I am for this OKAY I HAVE

Dave, who is a 4th year and also a little shit, so that'll be fun (I'll go do the permissions post in a mo'). He's been sword-duelling with his dad since he was 6, so he's got some skill, but when it comes to actually firing off spells he's rusty at best.

Billy (this guy), who is a 5th year (but also 13 - would he have to apply for special permission?) and needs to learn how not to get wedgied. He's a genius at the theoretical, but so-so at best at thinking on his feet.

Annnnd Kankri, who is a ghost, but who actually died in a duelling accident 17 years ago. So he might side-eye the class a little until/unless he actually talks to Shifu.

Shifu might appreciate Dave's sword skills actually, since that means that Dave's got better reflexes and is hardier than the others. Though that might make Shifu even stricter on him, because Shifu hates wasted talent. Shifu may see it as his responsibility to whip Dave into shape.

Shifu doesn't really discriminate against age, but he'll expect Billy to be mature enough to handle his classes. I think to be on the safe side, Billy will probably have to apply for special permission? But if he's got the willingness to learn and respect Shifu, then Shifu's fine with having him in class. Just...he'll be quite demanding of Billy, given that his knowledge of spells.

And Kankri, well...Shifu will find him annoying, especially if Kankri starts questioning the way he runs his class. Shifu might be inclined to treat Kankri like a student, just because of his appearance. I don't really know how the CR between them will develop, to be honest, but that's part of the fun of RPing!

Faster and with better reflexes, yes. But he's more of a glass cannon, depending on what kind of hits he's taking. I wish you luck with your endeavor to whip Dave into shape. |D

Billy can get a little snotty with authority figures, but that's mostly because he's used to being simply the best there is, so I'm not sure how he'd take to being knocked down a peg, other than by becoming SUPER DETERMINED.

Kankri would want to avoid the very premise of the class because BAD MEMORIES, but at the same time he would want to be really nosy and try to keep students from getting hurt so IDK this could go interestingly.

SO. Karkat's best class is Charms which means he's particularly good with hexes and jinxes, too. With some training he'd probably make a decent duelist. If Shifu is willing to put up with him I mean XD

Roxas is a bit more physical than Karkat, but not as good with spells. He definitely has more determination and motivation though.

And Marcie is probs just going to go nope. Because vampire.
