So! Due to the setting change, we realize that some of you are going to be making changes to your characters' backgrounds, whether big or small. SO, this is the post where you can talk about it! You can post how your characters will be different in the post-war setting, or, if you're not sure, leave a comment and we can help you hash something out! It's fun and informational!

Okay I might need advice on this. [SOUL EATER ANIME/POTENTIAL MANGA SPOILERS?? POSSIBLY?]




For Kid, I originally was going to kill Shinigami some time this year, because I was thinking he would go back to being a Auror for the sake of the war and idk he gets killed.

He dies in the anime, but seeing as the manga is a completely different timeline and waaaay past that, he is still alive. BUT. They have pretty much implied that Kid is going to become a full-fledged Death God and so Shinigami is going to go bye-bye. Originally I wanted to try and wait to see what happens in the manga but lol, not an option anymore and it could take forever at SE pacing.

Now the war is over and I'm not sure if I should make Shinigami dead or not. I'M KIND OF DISAPPOINT AT NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY IT OUT. So yeah, I dunno if anyone could help me here, but any thoughts would be awesome.

ANTONIO & NATALYA;

Natalya has no extremely major changes happening to her, really - other than the setting change, of course. Her family was in Belarus in the first half of her life, and then she moved before the war really started. Since she's Pureblooded, she didn't really have too many problems - no one really bothered with her or her family, and they lived fairly freely during it. Granted, her father was paranoid and scared during most of it, since they were foreigners and Eastern European to boot. SO, while she knows of the tragedies that happened, and definitely did not like Voldemort or his men, she blissfully avoided a chunk of it on a personal level. Her father is still paranoid, and that's about it. Her extended family, on the other hand, probably suffered some losses - whether from them being on the bad side, or just speaking out against Voldemort at the height of his power, etc. tl;dr - just a fussy kid who's poor and Pureblooded, idk.


OKAY SO FOR ANTONIO THOUGH. For those of you who were around for the TYL event back in 2010, I kind of had a ridiculous thing going on for poor Antonio. I will fully tl;dr on what exactly happened to him later, since I still have a crazy amount of headcanon for it all and there are some changes to what happened during the TYL event itself, but long story short - he was a Death Eater. A very unhappy, unwilling Death Eater, but a Death Eater none the less. He started off being a very low level spy for the Aurors, but that wasn't really publicly known, so you don't have to worry about that.

WHAT IS BASICALLY PUBLICLY KNOWN IS: Antonio was a known Death Eater during the Wizarding War. The bulk of his family was also associated with Voldemort and the Death Eaters, and the Fernández family has been standing on awkward ground as of late due to that. A good amount of their fortune is dwindled, and the few who weren't on Voldemort's side are trying desperately to clear the family name.

For Antonio himself - after the war, he stood trial, and was cleared of his crimes due to his claims of being placed under the Imperius Curse. There's also a rumor that he made a deal with an Auror before the war even ended, who helped vouch for him… But no one really seems to know that for certain.

So, basically, he's fresh out of the trials, and fresh out of trying desperately to find a job - since he's fairly broke at the moment, lmfao. Dumbledore has graciously extended his old teaching position back to Antonio, even with all the bad rumors hanging around him. Feel free to hate his guts!!

annnnd yeah, will actually tl;dr later because what is a brain and good lord, Toño suddenly has 10 years that happened to him and they were not happy ones.

ENJOY THE TEALEST OF DEER

Yancy: is mostly the same, just 2 years younger. He'll be very similar characterization-wise, but will probably be even touchier about mistreatment of muggleborns thanks to the war. He's really not crazy about being on a hitlist for... being... for years.

Finn: As with his previous background, his father died of heart problems when Finn was just a baby. But in this new setting, his mother died in a Death Eater attack near the start of the war while she was visiting the home of one of her muggleborn school friends. Finn doesn't know the details of her death; he's pretty disturbed by the idea of death in general and of loved ones in particular, so he hasn't felt ready to discuss the issue with Jake yet. He'd much rather lock that up in his repression vault! On a lighter subject, he wanted to be a member of the Order of the Phoenix so damn bad and played pretend as an Auror in the Order to no end as a little kid.

Graham: Oh, Graham. Of my set, the most likely to have had shit happen around him with the setting change. First of all, he's a year younger - 6th year now. Second, the magic side of Graham's family was in deep with the Death Eaters, though Graham was never particularly interested thanks to having psychopathy that's more general than oriented to a particular target. Also, thanks to a Baccano! novel translation project, I now know absolutely how Graham feels about killing (and it IS one of the few things he seems definitive about). Long story short, at the peak of Voldemort's frenzy to stop his prophesized downfall, some of Graham's large extended family tried to bring him into the DE fold. They did so by attempting to make him kill an Order-affiliated prisoner in their control. He couldn't bring himself to do it, and he beat the living hell out of his would-be recruiters when they mocked him for it. Believing this a betrayal on Graham's part, they planned to kill him themselves, but good ol' Ladd stepped in and slaughtered the conspirators. Thanks, murderously-indiscriminate cousin.

With the war over, all but a handful of Graham's Russo relatives are in Azkaban. Those who remain have claimed themselves victims of the Imperius Curse, but are secretly licking their wounds and biding their time hoping for another chance at Death Eater glory. Ladd has not yet been caught, but is wanted for killing Order members and Death Eaters alike. I'd like to play out the announcement of his capture in game at some point, since Ladd's capture and sentencing to Alkatraz is pretty much what introduces Graham in his canon in the first place.

Haven't decided the fate of the Order member who was captured by the Russos. I might leave it open for now on the off chance of revisiting it sometime down the line. If they're dead, though, it's because Ladd offed them immediately after dispatching his/her Death Eater captors, since that's how Ladd rolls.

Let me know if any of this goddamn avalanche of text is a no-go and I will revise the revamps, ha.

[ps to leafy: I don't know if you saw, but I have a Kyouko test run up at the new beginnings party in the crack comm if you'd like to try bouncing Mami off of her though maybe not in the way that Madoka fanboys want

I don't see anything in there that can't be worked with! If you have something in specific in mind for a Prophet post or whatnot, just go ahead and post in the plot post and we'll see when we can work it in. :)

I'm not making any substantial changes to Rose here, except that she is going to be a third year again so that she fits in with the rest of her canon cohort. She wasn't particularly affected by the war and I just figure that while she severely disapproves of Death Eaters' ideals and too many people got hurt by them, she's still curious about their techniques. Her obsession with Dark Magic doesn't really need a death eater slant, after all.

Also if a Mom or Ro?? Lalonde apps I would be happy to discuss any changes at all to fit with a backstory!

The only character getting a change is Crane. And it's not even that big of a change. Instead of becoming involved in Death Eater nonsense, he was deeply involved. He did a lot of damage and even killed a lot of people. However, at the end, he claimed his role was due to being blackmailed and/or being curse. His stories vary sometimes.

I don't think Ivan will be getting major changes, for ease of integrating with Natalya's minimal change, since we did discuss things when I was joining back on LJ.

What will change I'll post when I post my app in-journal again, if anyone cares to look, but it will be more along the lines of having pressure to join the "winning" side from professors and some family members, as well as the loss of some family members who, themselves, did not want to join. Slavs and their dark-arts ties, and all. Personality-wise, this will likely make him more withdrawn overall.

ALSO since I kind of stumbled into an extended hiatus accidentally before things shifted over, I am going to wipe everything that went down on LJ and pretend that he's just transferring in post-break. So you have another new teacher to contend with, and past-CR is up for a fresh start. Please, do, poke me for some if interested, I don't bite. c:
