Her name is Dierdre Vantas-Leijon (Maiden name Leijon, very catty sort of pureblood family) and she is married to Sal, aunt to Karkat and mother of Nepeta. I'm going with Di getting awfully lonely and wanting to see her family more so she spoke with the headmaster during Parent's Day and quickly packed up all her things.

I'm Terry, I play both Gamzee here (a glue sniffing Juggalo), and his uncle-who-doesn't-know-he-exists, GHB, who's the Potions prof. She'd probably know both - Gamzee would be a struggling student in her class who spends more time hanging around his friend Tavros than paying attention, and of course GHB is the creepy guy who smiles too much at the staff table.
