Karkat Background Update
With Karkat now being the only Vantas in game, I decided to re-work his background a little, as well as his appearance some.
Character Information
Name: Karkat Vantas
Canon Origin/Series: MSPA Homestuck
School Year: 4th
Gender:Male
Age: 13 Turning 14 in July
Out of school living location: Abingdon, England (With Dolores)
Blood status: Half Blood
Personality:
Background (AU!Canon; HP):Karkat has dealt with loss early in life. His mother died in a car accident when he was only two years old. While he was too young to really understand, the only thing that was clear to him, was that mummy had left and never said good bye.
His father, work as a negotiator with the UN and was often deployed into military missions to keep things going smooth. (While he was a wizard himself, he got average grades in Hogwarts but ultimately, his being muggle born lead him to have no lingering interest in the wizarding world, causing him to go back among the world of muggles.) As such he spent a lot of time away from Karkat, leading him to be left in the care of several different sitters, one being Dolores, who had known Karkat’s father while he was still a part of wizard culture.
When Karkat turned 7 he lost his only other parent. Missing in action, declared dead. Karkat was once again alone in the world facing another fact; his dad left permanently, and didn’t say good bye.
Dolores took him in, for a long time Karkat would keep his distance. While he knew her and liked her, he didn’t want to get attached because she would just leave him too in the end. And Karkat took his father’s death hard, becoming intensely argumentative and stand offish. Going into verbal waterfalls of threats and aggression that were never acted upon.
Over the years, he did in fact grown much attached to Dolores, and having grown up in a magic house took to being a wizard easily enough. While outwardly and in public, Karkat will be very dismissive of her and any affection offered, when in their home in Abingdon, Karkat is quietly affectionate and will never shy away from cuddles on couches as well as falling asleep on her most nights while watching movies or reading with her.
While on the whole those 7 years he is still very argumentative and aggressive sounding on the outside, coming to Hogwarts, Karkat has managed to make friends and calm down… A little. He is still very private with his affections and will get very squirmy and loud at public displays of affection.
Karkat has also gone under a physical change as well. He is Albino, so while his hair is almost white, and his eyes are a pinky red. In order to fit in and look like everyone else he dyes his hair blonde and wears contacts to hide his eyes. He is still short so all the height jokes work!!
