Hello everyone! It's time for...

Sorting Hat RP's Test Drive Meme!

This is all quite simple. Go to every Rper's favourite random number generator, and generate a number. Then post with the character you're considering apping here, along with the prompt you got! But don't just post with your character! Other people will be coming in, of course, so don't hesitate to reply to other people's comments!


1. Potions mixing! Such an under-appreciated art in the wizardry world, yet so crucial. So many things can go wrong, too...

2. Flying! Are you a first timer being taught by an older student? Are you just taking your new broom out for a spin? Either way, Hogwart's grounds provide a large field for you to fly around. Just be careful not to land in the Forbidden Forest.

3. The library. Such a large, useful resource that Hogwarts has. Are you there for your homework? Are you just a bookworm doing research for the sake of research? Either way, you better not try to get in the restricted section without permission! Dark magic lurks therein.

4. Sneaking out! Those dorms are boring, and school is so much more interesting at night... Just be careful not to get caught. Or to walk through a ghost. If you're a teacher, keep up the good work of keeping an eye out for those rascals!

5. Detention! If you get caught stepping over the line, you're put to work. So off you go, cleaning the trophy room with no magic, find wounded animals in the Forbidden Forest (watch out for the werewolves), or gut small animals for potion ingredient. Or maybe you're a teacher! Just waiting for the naughty student you caught to report for duty in the task you have in store for them.

6. Hogsmeade. Everyone needs a break from that big castle, and every student above third year with permission can visit the village on select weekends. Teachers, of course, can visit it whenever they want. There's pubs where you can drink butterbeer, stores to buy new school supplies or clothes, owls to rent, go wild!

7. The life of the paintings is a boring one, and when you have all the time of the world and little to do, you do what is easiest: talking. And boy, do the paintings like to talk. In fact, they're the prime source of gossip at Hogwarts! What juicy things has your character heard from these decorative blabbermouths?

8. Quidditch try outs! Are you a hopeful, trying to make this year the one where you take Hogwart's Quidditch league by storm? Are you a captain, dutifully watching for a diamond in the rough? Or are you just a spectator, watching everything unfold for espionage, schadenfreude, or just excitement at your team?

9. Hogswarts express! Are you a bitty first year, finding a place for your own, and maybe trying to make new friends? Are you an older student, catching up with your friends? Either way, a long trip like that is much spent with people than all alone, no?

10. Wildcard. Pick any of the scenarios above, or make your own.

[Call Dave a complete heretic for never following Quidditch, he doesn't care. Okay, he'll play a very casual game of it if he's got nothing better to do. He still doesn't follow it or worship the sport like it's some sort of religious activity for magical folk to follow.

The only reason anybody can get him to play is because of one thing, and one thing only. Dave can motherfucking fly, and that's the coolest thing ever. As long as the broom's decent, he'll fly it. It's calming to him, it makes him focus, and above all, he feels like all his worries and frustrations and self-doubts are left on the ground.

It's nothing short of pure liberation.

Today's a good day to take out a broomstick, so why the hell not? Dave is up in the air doing a few tricks.]

[It's late at night, the time when 'really late' starts transforming into 'really early.' In particular, it's the time of night when students who want to be awake for their classes tomorrow have gone to bed.

Apparently, Dirk doesn't care about staying awake tomorrow, or he just doesn't think he needs the sleep, because he's up and about, sneaking through the school like some kind of ninja wizard, dodging teachers and not even relying on lumos to help him navigate.

He's not coming from the direction of his dorm, either. Whatever he's up to, it's curious, very curious.]

[In Meenah's opinion rules were for chumps, and a chump Meenah Peixes was not. So it's not surprising that she's slipped out of her dorms and is not taking a lazy wander around the school at sometime past midnight. Her black combat boots probably aren't the smartest choice in footwear but hey they go with her dark jeans and the band shirt she stole off one of the muggleborn students (Though yes, she had at least heard some of the Rolling Stones stuff). Her wand light glints off the piercing through her eyebrow and its quite clear she gives no fucks that all good 14 year olds should be in bed. She is clearly bad to the bone.]

[Detention isn't new to Brandon. It's not. He's an unrepentant asshole who doesn't listen to and who defies authority figures. It's his thing. Talking back and being a nuisance gets him attention, and he thrives off of it.

He goes to detention, of course. Some of the teachers are pretty smokin', and he'll use any opportunity he gets to flirt with them. He's shameless. He hopes that this time he hasn't been pawned off on some ugly teacher or staff member, and that he'll be lucky and he'll have another student to work with. He'll just have to see what's in store.]

[Nautilus is sitting in the stands watching try outs and oh my gosh there is just so much excitement!

There were so many talented prospective Quidditch players lining up for the grand chance of playing one of Hogwarts prestigious teams! In the long History of Hogwarts, Quidditch had always been a time honoured sport and a shining example of wizarding heritage and–

Oh my, someone just fell off their broom with quite a thud.

She wondered if that hurt their chances any.]

[Loki has tried his very best to convince the teacher that it has not been his fault. But the classroom looked rather nice covered in green ooze.

Unfortunately things were looking less fun right now. He is sitting behind one of the small desks in front of the class and before him is a rather large pile of froglegs that he has to grind to powder.

Truly a tedious job and it shows on his face when he starts stomping the first legs to a not-so-powdery pulp.]

[The good thing about the bastard son of a Pureblood family, John had found, was that at family parties, he was largely left to his own devices. This meant that his alcohol consumption wasn't monitored as closely as his sibling's, if at all. He was, after all, someone treated largely as if he had no blood ties to the family, especially by his stepmother. Sometimes, when at the Three Broomsticks at Hogsmeade, he found himself missing that freedom. Today was one of these times; as much as he enjoyed butterbeer, it didn't have nearly the same euphoric effect as the stronger drinks his parents served his guests.

Whether or not he needed something like that, however, was something he was sure a lot of people would argue. His fifteenth birthday had come and gone, his father was no closer to telling him about his mother, and any mentions of her were still likely to get cold silence from him, if not a calm yet sharp remark about how forbidden the matter was.

Granted, he'd made progress; his father had finally relented and promised to tell him all about his mother... When he reached adulthood. So he had two more long years before knowing anything at all. This frustrated him. What was so important about his mother that required all the waiting and silencing?

And those were the thoughts that ran through his head as he nursed the third butterbeer, sitting at a window-side table in The Three Broomsticks. He obviously looks quite mopey.]

[Who really cares about studying or all that jazz anymore? Not this girl, that's for sure. Explains why she's breaking all the rules and sneaking out for a midnight stroll around the grounds and taking the necessary precautions to make sure she won't get caught. Just because she didn't like rules didn't mean that she couldn't be weary of those that enforced them after all.]
