A big ass plot.
Hey guys! Do we have some stuff to tell you. So for those who were in the game for camp know that Dark Magic made a few students more irritable and shit went down and people got hurt. That kick started off a long term plot in the game.
What was the cause of such chaos at camp? A certain part of a soul was traveling by the camp at the time, on it's way to Albania. In continuation with the post war drama, October 31st marks the one year anniversary of Voldemort's defeat at hands of a certain toddler. On this evening, instead of the usual Halloween celebrations, Hogwarts will have a memorial display set up for the fallen Potter family. Staff and Students can pay their respects to a nice looking photo of a happy family. There are some candles around and a curious golden cup with some flowers in it.
That night, your character may get a headache, nothing a drink of water and a good night sleep won't fix, right? The next day the headache is gone, but there's thing nagging voice in your head, that talks about things that only you know.
SO...
This event is going to be based loosely off of the shadows from Persona 4 (as well as the scene with Ron’s uncertainties shown in a semi-physical form in the Deathly Hallows Part 2 film). For those unfamiliar with that series, shadows are a manifestation of a character’s insecurities and things that they repress. Unlike in Persona, though, they won’t be manifesting as a full on monster. Instead, it’ll just be like a shadowy clone of your character that torments your character by calling them out on their insecurities and hidden fears.
To give an example, a character who has doubts about taking on her family business has a shadow that taunts her about this and suggests that she wants to be taken far away by her Prince Charming, feelings that she tries to hide.
So maybe your character acts over-eager about muggles to hide the fact that they’re actually sort of disgusted by muggleborns, maybe they’re in the closet to even themselves, maybe they’re in denial that the auror path they’re on is really just because they want to be famous and they don’t actually care about saving people at all. How you interpret and single out an insecurity is up to you!
HERE ARE THE EVENT GUIDELINES.
1. This event runs October 31st- November 2nd.
2. It's optional, you don't need your character to go through any emotional drama if you don't want.
3. If you do participate, it is one character per player. No exceptions. You are free to change your mind on who it is up until the event though. On that note, only three other characters in the game can see you shadow. They should be characters close to yours.
4. This not a boggart or evil twin event.
5. There will not be the usual Halloween banquet or party. This is a memorial.
6. There will be a log for the actual memorial for characters to play around in. We will have threads for the two days after as well for people to play out things and interact with your shadow. You can make posts of course to react, but you can't interact with your shadow that way.
7. Your character will hear a voice in their head that isn't so bad at first, it will progress until it manifests in to an actual shadow of yourself. It will go away if your character sincerely accepts their insecurities and admits them. If they don't, it'll just fade away after November 2nd and your character continues to live on with their flaws and doesn't grow as a person.
8. You can make journals for your characters shadow if you choose to and play things out in the log that way. Do not use them on journal posts. They have no physical form so they cannot comment. Yes we know ghosts can do that, but we're not making any exceptions for this.
9. This log will go up October 29th! It's going up early because people have plans IRL for Halloween and we want everyone to get the chance to play with this event.
10. Let us know ON THIS POST before the 29th which character, if you're participating, will be directly involved.
