Important Updates

Hi Hatters!

As a follow up of our last post, we're going to be ironing out some details for you. As of today, this will be the FINAL month of the game. we do apologise for such a rushed close, remember that it's perfectly alright to mess around with logs and forward and backdate things as you see fit. This means the official last day is September 2nd, aka the beginning of the new year. Due to the feedback we've received, the send off is going to be a 4th wall log open to all former and current players. The premise behind the party will be a celebration of Hogwarts, so it's a meta way of paying our respects to the game. We're very excited about it and we're currently tossing around some ideas, so if there's anything in particular you'd like to see please feel free to make a suggestion here. It's probably obvious at this point, but AC will not be tracked for the remainder of the game or for this month. Go nuts!

As for the future of the game, we've noticed a high interest in turning the game into a Musebox/Dressing room for some light hearted play. We will be going forward with this idea! When the game closes, dressrobes will become the open community for play and it will be lightly modded but mostly for casual fun. You'll still be free to contact us if you have any issues or concerns!

Once again, on behalf of all the mods from the past and the present we'd like to thank every single one of you for every ounce of love you've given this game. The demand for AU games, particularly Harry Potter ones might have dwindled, but we can say with some certainty that the game holds as special a place in our hearts as the canon it was based on. We hope you've all had a fun time here, even if you've recently joined and now we urge you to get your end game plots and playing rolling so we can send the game off with good feeling.

Eight years is an incredibly long time and we're so proud of all of us for taking it this far. Once again, thank you all!

Summer plans and plots!

Alright guys and gals! Summer is upon us, but not to worry, we have a few things lined up for everyone to get up to over the holidays!

ㄨ Our first port of call, beginning Friday, July 12th and running to Monday, July 15th will be a wizard rock festival, held in Aberdeenshire and hosting famous rock bands both old and new! The festival will last for a total of four days, and though attendance through the entire event isn't mandatory, it's best to arrive early so you don't end up pitching your tent in a ditch. There will be several different stages, with food and general facilities available throughout.

Just make sure that you wear plenty of sunscreen! Sunstroke is no joke.

ㄨ Later in the holidays, from Saturday, July 29th to Saturday, August 12th, there will be a non-mandatory school trip to Orlando, Florida. Though mostly for the benefit of the Muggle Studies students, it’s been opened to all students who might be interested in taking a trip across the pond. While Walt Disney world is certainly a major focal point, if that's not your scene, don't forget that there are many other attractions - SeaWorld, Epcot and Universal Studios, to name but a few! Most of the students are old enough to be trusted not to get into too much trouble, right?

ㄨ Finally, at the end of summer and running from Thursday the 25th to the Tuesday the 30th of August, there will be an inter-school quidditch tournament held at Hogwarts! The Hogwarts Express will be running an extra service, one week early, and though no one has to be there, what kind of impression would it make if the home team didn't make a good turnout to cheer their players on!

For this event, we will be taking applications from all years and all houses to fill the Hogwarts team, and using RNG results to decide which schools will win each rounds. The competing schools will be;

» Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
» Beauxbaxton’s Academy of Magic
» Durmstrang Institute
» The Salem Witches’ Institute
» Mahoutokoro

Due to the potential for large crowds at this event, it will also be an open fourth-wall! We encourage you to bring in any characters that you’d like to try out, to see how they work in the setting as well with as each other!

The latter two events will come with their own plotting posts, but please use this one to plot for the music festival, ask any questions, and of course to make any suggestions as to possible band names and Orlando attractions you’d like to see featured.

Real life has been particularly cruel to me over the past few months (mom and grandma constantly in and out of hospitals, job stress). I didn't take a hiatus earlier because I thought I could deal with it, even though it was getting to me and my mood was tanking. Now I found out that my uncle passed away unexpectedly. Being on the other side of the planet, I don't have time to attend his funeral. I am grappling with severe guilt and depression as a result.

I need time to regroup, so I'm making the hiatus official.

Ahh..I'm...putting myself on hiatus because I know I'm just not entitled to keep doing this staring-at-tags-and-not-doing-them thing. If you get the rare backtag from me, well...cool I s'pose, but more likely than not, you won't. I've had a hard time just sitting down doing my tags, either for Alfred or Francis, and it's not a muse voice problem. It's just a rl problem.

How's my driving?

This is a post where you can see how you're doing in the eyes of your fellow roleplayers. This can be how well you're playing your character, as well as playing in general.

We encourage you guys to take the opportunity to critique people in a legitimate environment. Make sure that when you give your critique, you really want to give someone a chance to improve or take a look at your perspective on things. This is a place to give and get evaluations on how you play your character.

Bashing people is completely unhelpful, mostly unproductive, and largely hurtful. We do not want people to feel uncomfortable in their own game. If you have an issue with someone, you let them know through pms or hmds, or you let us know. We know you guys are mature and reasonable and awesome people, so we'd like to see this reflected in the How's My Driving. Keep it classy.

1. You can post your character, their journal, and their canon in any way that suits you. ANONYMOUS COMMENTING IS TURNED ON.

2. Be open minded, no one is above learning to be better, not even the mods.

3. Give some constructive criticism! Do it in journal or anon if you feel more comfortable. Absolutely positively no bashing and being unhelpful. On the other hand, don't take crit as a clue to OMG LEAVE AND NEVAR COME BACK or reason it all away as character development without listening to it. Improving is a good thing!

4. It's up to you to let people know what you think. This is your chance to tell people what you think of how they're playing, Even if you don't know the series, you can tell a player how you view the character based on how you've played them and they can compare it to canon. This can be in the form of, "Post moaaaar~" or "We never finish plots! :<" or even "You do a good job at following HP canon!"

5. This is NOT MANDATORY. It is however, HIGHLY encouraged for everyone to participate in. Sometimes it's helpful to get input from people who have seen you in action, so try not to be afraid of it. You might hear good things as well!

6. You guys are full of love, feel free to say that you like someone's character. Just do it constructively, give reasons why you like the character, no just "I love your Muse and you're the best one ever!" Everyone has room for improvement.

7. Please don't spam. We love you, but there are plenty of other places for that!

8. There is a mod hmd for crit regarding us specifically and what we can do for you, and a general game hmd for anything from "Too many of you are butts and you don't use enough British slang" to "We want more crack events '^'". So this is for general stuff you'd like to see in the game from fellow players (without pointing fingers) as well as how you'd like to see the game improve how its run.

Hey guys, just a note to say I'm going to be on hiatus for a week or so, possibly more. There's a lot of chaos in my personal life right now that I'm trying to deal with, and it just doesn't leave me with much energy for organized RP. I hope to be back once things have gotten sorted out at home. Also, in that vein, I'm going to drop a lot of my older threads, so when I come back I can get a fresh start. I'm really sorry to the folks I was playing with, but I keep getting overwhelmed, looking at my backtags, and I think this'll help me get back into the swing of the game.

De-Hiatus and a drop

Okay, so I think my hiatus has lasted long enough. But with it came some perspective.

I'm dropping Karkat. I do love him, but he's just become too much of a chore to be motivated for and to write for. I really so very much apologize to everyone he had CR with, especially Dolores and Gamzee. Because they had so much development. But it's just not working out like I had hoped.

That being said, Tony is still stupidly strong in my mind, and I am feeling more confident with Bunny with every re-watching of Rise of the Guardians.

Hopefully we'll find a stronger Karkat player in the future.

New teacher!

Hey, SH! This is Silk (Dirk's player) bringing in a second character. She's Yu Xiulian (Shu lien, in the translation) from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. She's going to be a professor, after having been an auror for a couple years, and she'll be teaching a class called Magical Cultures, which can be signed up for here.

I should be putting up an IC intro soon, but rather than retcon an entire school year's worth of things, she'll be coming in to help out with the end of the school year, and probably officially start teaching at the end of the summer.

Hello everyone! I'm Snow, and I'm brand new. I'm here with David Alexander Tielman Campion (who would very much just like to be called Alec), a pureblooded sixth year Ravenclaw. He's from a book series called Swordspoint (which I adore the hell out of, if anyone ever wants to know anything about it).

A few things about Alec: he's bitter and privileged and arrogant, and he hates people like that. He's also not a hypocrite about it, he does hate himself more than anyone else, considering himself useless as well as being suicidal. He also thinks he's too much of a coward to actually carry through with anything like that. With regards to his self-harm and suicidal inclinations, I have an opt-out post here that I encourage anyone who wants to give me a heads-up to avoid things to use. But the short of it is that tv tropes describes him a jerkass woobie, and it's not wrong.

His au has him coming from a wealthy and pureblooded family, and his favorite class is astronomy. If you want way more of my babbling his app is here.
